Cards make last moves before Rule 5 Draft

During their afternoon press conference to announce Mike Matheny‘s extension, General Manager John Mozeliak also announced that the Cardinals have added Oscar Taveras, Mike O’Neill, and Greg Garcia to the 40 man roster. In a small move in comparison to what will happen in just a few hours, the Cardinals claimed outfielder Joey Butler off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
